Inter - Generational and Spatial Equity Issues of Carbon Accounts

چکیده

We analyze the different regional and generational contributions to increases of C02 concentrations resulting from fossil-fuel use since the onset of the industrial revolution. Equitable future per capita emission allowances under a range of concentration stabilization scenarios (additional 140, 280, and 420 ppm over pre-industrial levels) by the year 2100 are outlined. The intraand inter-generational equity criterion adopted considers that each human being is allowed an equal emission right per year, independent of time or place lived. A distinguishing characteristic of the analysis is the integration of emissions and population over time . Quantifications of historical contributions to concentration increases and future emission scenarios on a per capita basis are broken down into nine world regions.

Climate Engineering Economics ∗

This article reviews and evaluates the nascent literature on the economics of climate engineering. The literature distinguishes between two broad types of climate engineering: solar radiation management and carbon dioxide removal. We review the science and engineering characteristics of these technologies and analyze the implications of those characteristics on economic policy design. We discus...

It has been known that, in aggregating infinite utility streams, there does not exist any social welfare function, which satisfies the axioms of Pareto, inter-generational equity and continuity. We show that the impossibility result persists even without imposing the continuity axiom. Hence, the problem of accommodating inter-generational equity is more obstinate than previously supposed. The p...

Ecoethics: Now Central to All Ethics

A few years ago, I wrote on the need for expansion of the environmental areas of bioethics, and covered some of the topics touched on here. Sadly, although it is possible to find some notable exceptions, bioethics does not provide much of an ethical base for considering human-nature relationships. Here I’m not going to deal with these philosophical issues or others about the nature of ethical d...

Investigating the Effect of Overflow Effects from Heat Sector of Iran on Greenhouse Gas Emissions; Application of Space Durbin Model

Issues related to environment are one of the most important issues that confront communities in recent decades.   Resource scarcity and the necessity of development for Iran and other similar countries requires us to deal with carbon dioxide emissions as a manifestation of environmental crisis. In this study, we assess the relationship between carbon dioxide emissions as a dependent variable wi...

Cultural Transmission Between and Within Generations

We describe some simulations that compare cultural transmission between and within generations (inter-generational vs intra-generational transmission) in populations of embodied agents controlled by neural networks. Our results suggest that intra-generational transmission has the role of adding variability to the evolutionary process and that this function seems particularly useful when the pop...
